Diary excerpts and verbal accounts of front line Russian soldiers of WW2, typically no more than two or three paragraphs each, offer compelling insights into the nature of that war.
Especially appreciated are several accounts of the actions of Jews, documenting their aversion to front line duty.
Great First person commentaries.Gritty, sad, humorous, and very interesting. A must for anyone interested in the Eastern Front in WWII.
These are really good first-hand accounts of WW2 from the Soviet side - all too often inadequately covered in the West.
